Air india, Ahmedabad plane crash

Four days following the Ahmedabad plane crash, a second black box has been recovered from the site. This black box captures the cockpit voice recorder of the aircraft. If recovered, a lot of vital information can fall in the hands of investigators. The 'data recorder' of the plane or the first black box has already been recovered.

Crash After Departure from Ahmedabad

Air India's AI171 departed from Ahmedabad Airport for London Gatwick at 1:38 am on June 12. This Boeing Dreamliner never had any major accident in the past. But on that day, just seconds after rolling off the runway, the aircraft slammed into a building ahead of it. 242 individuals were on board the Air India aircraft, including Vijay Rupani, a former Gujarat Chief Minister.

Death Count Reaches 270

The death toll stands so far at 270. The first black box was recovered the same day after the accident. The hostel building where the aircraft crashed was the medical hostel building. The second black box was also recovered four days later. It is also referred to as the 'cockpit voice recorder'.

Civil Aviation Sets Up Three-Member Inquiry Committee

The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra arrived at the site of the crash in Ahmedabad on Sunday. He also came to know after the recovery of the black box on Monday. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) are probing the accident. They issued a statement saying that they held a high-level meeting with the Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister. They discussed the progress of the investigation in the meeting. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has also constituted a three-member high-level committee to probe the Ahmedabad crash. They will submit their report within three months.
