Petals of Hope Gala Blooms in Houston: A Night of Voices, Vision, and Impac
On June 28, 2025, the Blume Foundation hosted its inaugural Petals of Hope: Voices of Change gala at The Westin Oaks Houston. The event brought together changemakers from across sectors to raise awareness and support for women and girls worldwide.
An Evening of Purpose and Solidarity
The Blume Foundation’s first-ever gala was more than a celebration—it was a rallying cry. Held in Houston, Petals of Hope: Voices of Change united a passionate community of advocates, creatives, and leaders determined to build a world where every woman and girl can thrive.
Hosted by Rosie Nguyen, journalist and advocate for free expression, the evening opened with a moving call to action. Rosie challenged the audience to stand with Blume’s mission: dismantling the systems that devalue women through education, empowerment, and justice.
A Vision Born from Experience
Vaishali Dev, founder of the Blume Foundation, shared the deeply personal roots of the organization. Through her lived experiences, she saw the urgent need for global action around gender equity, mental health, reproductive justice, and leadership development.
Her work was honored with official recognitions, including a Congressional Certificate from Rep. Al Green, and proclamations from Senator Molly Cook, Commissioner Lesley Briones, and Judge Lina Hidalgo, applauding Blume’s unwavering commitment to women’s rights.
Stories That Moved the Room
A powerful segment on gendercide awareness, led by Beverley Hill of GENDAP, featured survivor Niriah Williams, whose testimony left a lasting impact. A thoughtful panel followed, moderated by Sami Khaleeq, with leaders Juliet K. Stipeche and Dr. Elizabeth Gregory offering insights on education and equity.
Honoring Leaders Who Light the Way
Four extraordinary changemakers were honored:
• Dr. Conte M. Terrell – Phoenix Petal Award
• Lushin Dubey – Blume Beacon Award
• Parvez Jasani – Roots and Wings Award
• Roopa Gir – Force of Nature Award
Designer Anjali Phougat was also recognized for her powerful fashion showcase, She Walks Free, which gave voice to survivors of human trafficking and celebrated South Asian heritage.
Closing with Hope and Action
Blume co-founder Marti Nonemaker reminded guests that lasting change begins with everyday courage. The gala closed with gratitude to sponsors like iEducate, Spark Media, Chai Gold, VIVA Global Events, and others whose support fuels Blume’s impact.
