The Indian Army has published the names and photographs of five senior Pakistani officers. They are Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Fayaz Hussain Shah, commander of IV Corps in Lahore. Major General Rao Imran Sartaj, posted with the 11th Infantry Division in Lahore. Besides this, there are Brigadier Muhammad Furqan Shabbir, Punjab Police Inspector General Usman Anwar and Punjab Provincial Assembly Member Malik Shoaib Ahmed Berth.
The photo published by India depicts Lashkar-e-Taiba militant Hafiz Abdul Rauf during his funeral. His name is also specifically mentioned in the list of terrorists compiled by America. The 'militants' bodies were reportedly wrapped in the Pakistani national flag as a mark of respect. In the photo, Lashkar militant Abdul can be seen delivering a speech. Pakistani officials are behind him. The Indian army has identified them and published the photo.
It is reported that Hafiz Saeed of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, a key plotter behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, had also attended the last rites of the terrorists. Hafiz Saeed created another Pakistan-based terror outfit named Jamaat-ud-Dawa. Three militants belonging to that outfit have been reported dead in 'Operation Sindoor'. Their last rites were performed at Muridke. The two killed were Qari Abdul Malik, Khalid and Mudassir.
On May 8, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Army jointly issued a statement condemning the actions of Pakistan. The Foreign Secretary stated that Pakistan was giving respect to the martyrs by draping the bodies of the killed militants with the national flag. Later, on Sunday, the names of the Pakistani officers who attended the event were also disclosed. Pakistan has been rejecting such claims right from the start. They state that the civilians perished during the Indian raid. That is why the national flag was accorded to them.
