Yunus is not resigning!
Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, is not resigning for now. This was announced by the country's planning advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud. Yunus held a closed-door meeting with the advisors of the interim government in Dhaka on Saturday. After the meeting, Wahiduddin told reporters that Yunus and all other advisors are remaining in their positions. No one is resigning.
Unscheduled Meeting of Executive Committee
There was a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council of Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday. The meeting of the advisors began immediately after it ended. According to sources, this meeting on Saturday was not pre-scheduled. According to Bangladesh time, the closed-door meeting began at 12:20 pm in the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. It lasted for about two hours. Wahiduddin said after coming out, "The chief advisor will be with us. He did not say he will resign. The other advisors will also be there. We have come to fulfill the responsibility given to us."
Denials of Resignation
Syeda Rizwana Hassan, the environment advisor to the interim government, left the meeting shortly before it ended. She told reporters that the general elections were discussed in the meeting. They also talked about the reforms needed in Bangladesh. But she did not want to comment on Yunus' resignation. Later, when the meeting ended, the planning advisor opened up about Yunus' resignation. She dismissed all speculation.
