US Congressman Urges Action on Terror of Pakistan

US Congressman Brad Sherman has informed the Pakistani delegation that has traveled to America to fight terrorism. Emphasis has been put on taking action against the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed operating in Pakistan and expelling them out of Pakistan. Sherman also met former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Bilawal was part of the Pakistani delegation.

Sherman Raises Sindh's Human Rights Issues

Sherman also talked about the issues of Sindh province with Pakistani officials. He told that most of the Pakistanis are relying on the Indus water. Protecting that source of water is significant. People from Sindh have been suffering from political oppression for years. Pakistani human rights groups have recorded over 8,000 cases between 2011. They are serious in nature, including disappearance and extrajudicial executions. I have requested the Pakistani government to take notice of this matter."

Pakistan Flags Indus Treaty Concerns

The Pakistani delegation brought up the subject of the Indus Water Treaty and India's stance on it during their visit to America. Bilawal asserted that India is driving South Asia into nuclear war by halting the water. He also referred to this Indian move as 'aggression'. India suspended the Indus Treaty, holding Pakistan responsible after the attack by terrorists on April 22 at Pahalgaon.

Pakistan Seeks Global Intervention

Despite a ceasefire in place between the two nations, they did not retreat from suspending the treaty. Pakistan has also focused the attention of the international community and the United Nations on this matter. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that the fate of 240 million Pakistanis is at stake in the waters of the Indus and its tributaries. This Indian decision is hence illegal. The issue was also brought up by the Pakistani delegation during their visit to America. An Indian all-party delegation, who is also headed by Shashi Tharoor, is also present in Washington around the same time. They have traveled to America to give word of the Pahalgaon attack and 'Operation Sindoor'.
