Plantation Program Organized on World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the team of 'The Green Buxar Project', a group of young environmental enthusiasts, organized a plantation drive in collaboration with the students of Government Engineering College, Buxar. During the program, students and faculty members planted various species of trees in the newly constructed campus of the college. On this occasion, the students took a pledge to protect the earth and understand their responsibility towards environmental conservation.
Vision Behind the Movement
Shri Shashi Ranjan Ojha, Director and Project Lead of The Green Buxar Project, stated that the objective of this program is not only to make Buxar green and beautiful but also to bring back the greenery of Buxar and raise awareness among the younger generation about environmental conservation. He mentioned that in June 2024, Buxar was recorded as the hottest district in the country, a first in its history, and the direct impact of climate change is visible in Buxar. This land, once the tapasthali of Maharsi Vishwamitra, is now struggling with the crisis of climate change. Mr. Shashi Ranjan Ojha shared that their initiative began after Buxar's record-breaking heat last year and seems to be a successful experiment.
Call for Community Participation
The Green Buxar Project is running a Plant Adoption Drive across Buxar and appeals to the people of Buxar to join this campaign in large numbers and adopt at least one plant each to make this initiative a success. Shri Shashi Ranjan Ojha thanked the Principal of GEC Buxar, expressing his gratitude and saying, "We are delighted that the students of Government Engineering College have contributed to this initiative."
Support from the Academic Community
The program was attended by prominent faculty members, including Professor Chandrashekhar, HOD Computer Science Engineering, and other faculty members and students. Young environmental enthusiasts Shri Ravi Shankar Mishra and Shri Ritesh Yadav from 'The Green Buxar Project' were also present.
