Omani Cricketers Allege Unpaid T20 World Cup Prize Money

Oman participated in the T20 World Cup in 2024. Even after completing group c, the Oman Cricket Board received approximately 2 crore as prize money from the International Cricket Council (icc). 

ICC Guidelines Mandate Prize Within 21 Days

As per the regulations, the funds should be distributed equally among all the players in the cricket team. Despite the conclusion of the world cup almost a year ago, the Omani cricketers have voiced their dissatisfaction, claiming that they have not received any financial compensation. They mentioned that they were removed from the team for expressing their dissent. 

But Cricketers Left Empty-Handed

According to the regulations of the highest governing body of cricket (icc), prize money must be allocated to the cricketers within 21 days of the conclusion of any competition they organize. The ICC announced that Oman had been awarded the prize money. But the cricketers allegedly did not get it. The cricket association of the world has stated that several countries competing in the t20 world cup have not paid their cricketers the full amount owed. However, Oman is leading all others. They have not paid a single cent. The cricketers who voiced their disagreement with this incident have been removed from the team. They have been compelled to depart the country, as per the allegations. 

Kashyap Shares Personal Struggles

An Indian-origin cricketer, who has represented Oman in 37 one-day internationals and is currently residing in America. He is endeavoring to establish himself in the cricket scene there. Kashyap also expressed his disappointment, stating that even after the 2021 T20 World Cup, Oman's cricketers have not received a single penny. However, they were unaware that the prize money would be divided among the cricketers.
