'No differentiation exists between terrorists and civilians in Pakistan'

There is no distinction between terrorists and common citizens in Pakistan. That is the reason behind their mourning the loss of terrorists. This was India's Permanent Representative P Harish's statement during his address to the UN Security Council. He also labelled Pakistan's actions as 'hypocritical'. He also illustrated how India has been victimized by coordinated terror attacks from across the border and overseas for decades.

UN Debate on Civilian Security

The UN Security Council held a debate on the security situation of ordinary people, humanitarian workers, and the media around the world. Representatives from India and Pakistan were present at the event in New York. While speaking on the issue, Pakistan's ambassador Iftikhar Ahmed raised the issue of the recent conflict between India and Pakistan. He also brought up the issue of Kashmir. After that, India took a dig at Islamabad's policies.

India's Response to Pakistan's Allegations

The Indian delegate stated, "I must reply to the unfounded assertions made by the Pakistani delegate on a number of matters. India has been a victim of decades of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. From the dreadful 26/11 Mumbai attacks to the latest attack on tourists in Pahalgaon. The victims of Pakistani terrorism have always been innocent citizens. Because their objective was to distort our development, progress and values."

Cross-Border Conflict

India struck back at Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgaon on 22 April in which 26 people were killed. A number of terrorist camps of Pakistan were wrecked by 'Operation Sindoor'. Pakistan struck back too. Fighting went on for four days along the Line of Control and the North-West Frontier. The Indian representative also raised the issue of that 'Sindoor' operation in his address to the UN.
