'Mr. Prime Minister.', calls Pak Army Chief at 2:30 am! Sharif says, what did the two discuss after India's strike

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was called by Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir around 2:30 am following India's 'Operation Sindoor'. Sharif said so while speaking at an event. He added that he got up after receiving Munir's call late at night. The Pakistani Prime Minister also disclosed what transpired between the two. Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported Sharif made public the call of the Army Chief at a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on Friday. He recalled that 'horrible' night.

India launched an attack on Pakistan on the night of May 6 and 7. 'Operation Sindoor' was initiated. Various Pakistani terror camps were gutted that night by firing missiles from India. The Indian Defense Ministry stated that this operation within Pakistan took only 23 minutes. And within those 23 minutes, Sharif and Munir lost sleep. Sharif stated that he got a call from Munir at 2:30 am precisely on the 6th. The Prime Minister was informed by the Army Chief about the Indian attack. What did Munir say? As quoted by Sharif, Munir replied on the telephone, "Mr. Prime Minister, India has fired ballistic missiles towards Pakistan. Allow me to respond."

The Pakistani Prime Minister had asserted that he had authorized the Army Chief to retaliate over the phone. Subsequently, Pakistan began retaliating in the early morning hours. Missiles and drones were launched at the Indo-Pak border, including Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan. Nevertheless, the Indian Army stated that the Indian air defense system effectively drove off the attack.

India stated that they targeted only terrorist camps inside Pakistan. Civilians were harmed as little as possible. Pakistan, in turn, accused India of attacking their places of worship, where numerous civilians were martyred. Sharif asserted that Pakistan responded with a 'necessary and proportionate' retaliation to this Indian aggression. Pakistan's retaliatory action against India was code-named 'Operation Bunyan-un-Marsus', meaning 'solid structure composed of lead' or 'impervious wall'. There has been ongoing conflict on the India-Pakistan border since that day. The two nations agreed on May 10 to a ceasefire. At present, there is relative peace along the Line of Control and on the border. However, the two countries' bilateral relations are still not improved. Sharif has invited India for talks on peace. DGMOs of the two nations' armies have exchanged talks on a 'hotline'.
