Is former Pakistani Prime Minister alleged Assult In Jail?
An unsettling document is in circulation online accusing former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan of having been raped when in police custody. The allegedly fake report of the hospital appearing to originate from the Pak Emirates Military Hospital (PEMH) in Rawalpindi, has been discounted by officials as well as fact-checkers.
As per authenticated reports, Khan was examined by Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) physicians in Islamabad and not PEMH as the virally circulating document states.
The drama intensified when a user on X (previously Twitter) shared a purported medical report dated May 2, 2025, even though the report itself had a date of May 3, 2025. The inconsistency in the timeline was a red flag immediately, with the implication that the document was falsified.
The manipulated report identifies "Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi" as the patient and notes injuries in keeping with physical and sexual abuse, such as unstable vitals and injuries to the genitals. It also mentions conditions such as bleeding and anal fissures, suggesting a variety of possible causes including hemorrhoids and colorectal disease. But the report isn't verified, and officials affirm that no such report was written in Khan's valid medical evaluation. They added that no report was ever made to the General Headquarters (GHQ) of Rawalpindi, as the viral paper asserts.
Notwithstanding being proved false, the post has already been viewed more than 75,000 times, with some expressing concern at the spread of misinformation being exploited to incite public opinion or target political personalities.
