Uzbekistan Keeps Title Hopes Alive
Uzbekistan has established itself rapidly on the Asian football map. They earned a top-two finish in the league after their draw against the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi. Top-ranked Iran lost 0-1 to Qatar. Uzbekistan thus has a hope of ending top of the league. Iran has a two-point lead. There is one game remaining for all teams in the group. Uzbekistan's final game is against Qatar. If they win that game, they will have an opportunity to move to the top.
The Three Nations Qualify for World Cup
South Korea and Jordan directly qualified to the main round of the World Cup on Thursday, as did Uzbekistan from Asia. They will be in Group B. South Korea qualified by beating Iraq 2-0. Kim Jin-gyu and Oh Hyun-hye scored. Jordan is also in the same group. They qualified for the World Cup for the first time by beating Oman 3-0.
10 Teams Secure World Cup Berths
48 teams are going to play the World Cup. 10 teams have already qualified. These include the hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States. Besides that, Japan, Argentina, New Zealand and Iran have already qualified for the World Cup.
