IPL 2026: RCB Requests CCTV Installation in Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium for THIS Reason

In the past few weeks, there have been a lot of speculations around the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. The question is clear: whether the popular stadium will host the upcoming 2026 IPL matches. In the midst of all this, the RCB team has requested the installation of AI-powered CCTV cameras at the venue as a measure for improved crowd management.

The Story Behind the Chaos

The Chinnaswamy stadium was in the midst of a lot of controversy after the unfortunate stampede incident that happened on June 4, 2025, a day after RCB won the IPL 2025 trophy. 11 people lost their lives. Since then, no competitive match has been held at the stadium. Even the state government refused to host the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches at the venue due to non-compliance with safety requirements.

RCB’s Special Request

For the unversed, the stadium happens to be RCB’s home ground. So, the team has requested the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to install around 300 and 350 AI-enabled cameras. According to the same proposal, the advanced surveillance system would assist all law-enforcement agencies in monitoring crowd movement and queuing all the entry and exit points. The interesting part is that RCB has also taken the responsibility of bearing the entire cost of the installation, which is estimated to be approximately ₹4.5 crore.

Final Thoughts

Nobody wants to relive the chaos that happened at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the previous year. What was supposed to be a celebration immediately turned into a tragedy due to mismanagement and an overcrowded venue. Now, it is yet to be seen whether the KSCA accepts RCB’s proposal or the team has to analyze other contingency options.
