Trump Proposes UFC Fight at White House for America’s 250th Anniversary

Washington, D.C., July 4, 2025 – In an unexpected announcement just before this country celebrates its 250th Independence Day, former U.S. President Donald Trump wants to convert the White House lawn into a battleground for one night by simply having a UFC championship fight there. 

“Patriotic Spectacle”: UFC as Main Event of America250

During a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Trump pitched this unique idea to his audience with the declaration, “We’re going to have a UFC fight—Dana White’s UFC—right on the grounds of the White House.” He went on to say the planned fight detailed the capacity of 20,000 to 25,000 spectators. 

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Trump’s claim and that UFC owner Dana White is ready to assist in planning and setting up the event after she said Trump was “entirely serious”.

The UFC fight is part of a larger slate of events as part of the America250 initiative, which seeks to incorporate history, entertainment, and civic pride. 

Strong Ties to UFC and Possible Controversies

Trump has always enjoyed a cosy relationship with UFC today and Dana White. He has gone to many UFC events and supported UFC during its early history with venues. Most recently, he was found at UFC 302 in Newark.

The critics are concerned about concerns around security, how federal space is being used, the uses, and the politicisation of national events. Hosting commercial combat events on federal grounds raised many eyebrows over the last couple of years, along with how this is supposed to be possible or encouraged.

It is still unknown, but Trump has not yet publicly confirmed and hasn’t provided planning details other than the pitch within the content of the proposal. The proposal indicates that Trump intends a proposal to serve up white-collar entertainment paired with patriotic fervour.
