New Delhi World Book Fair Opens with Tribute to Indian Armed Forces

The 53rd edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2026 began on January 10, 2026. It will be held till January 18 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The good part is that entry will be completely free for all visitors. This event is going to witness over 1000 publishers and more than 600 events that will feature famous writers, speakers, and host cultural programs from across the country and the world.
What is the Theme of the Fair?
As a tribute to the superheroes who protect the country across the borders, the theme for the New Delhi Book Fair is “Indian Military History: Valour and Wisdom @75.”
With this, the book fair is honoring 75 glorious years of India’s independence, including the overall contributions of the Indian armed forces.
The theme pavilion will also be the primary focus of the fair because it is spread across 1,000 square meters.
According to the latest reports, the fair is going to feature over 500 books, posters, documentaries, exhibitions, and other installations.
A Special Children’s Pavilion
Interestingly, there’s going to be a children’s pavilion in the fair that will offer various storytelling sessions, quizzes, art and craft activities, and other workshops. To add to the perks, the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya (ReP) will distribute over 6,000 free books through QR codes and digital kiosks.
Cultural Events and Performances
Evenings at the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2026 will include several musical performances, poetry recitals, and other important cultural showcases. Artists such as Manganiyars, Ricky Kej, and bands from the Navy, Indian Army, and Air Force will perform in these events.
International Participants Join the Fair
Over 35 countries are participating in the fair, including Russia, Abu Dhabi, Iran, Japan, Poland, France, Kazakhstan, Hungary, and Chile. As a part of the India–France Year of Innovation, the latter will have a special pavilion as of 2026. Meanwhile, Qatar will be the guest of honour country, and Spain is conferred as the focus country.
Several notable authors and speakers will also be a part of the fair like Piyush Mishra, Kailash Satyarthi, Rahul Bhattacharya, Ricky Kej, Jaya Kishori, Smriti Irani, Hema Malini, Durjoy Dutta, Luke Coutinho, Deep Haldar, and Nitin Seth.
