Kami Rita, summited Everest 31 times, shattered his own record!
Kami Rita did it himself after setting his own record. Then he broke it himself. Three decades ago, he first stepped on the peak of Mount Everest. After that, there was no turning back. Whenever he had an opportunity, he would scale it. He would scale Everest at a rush. Everest is his home, so says those who know him. Nepali Kami Rita completed his 31st Everest trip on Tuesday at the age of 55. He created a new benchmark once again!
Kami Rita Sherpa the Everest Man
Kami is a household name among climbers. His expedition company, Seven Summit Treks, declared Kami's triumph. "Kami Rita Sherpa does not need introduction. he is a world icon of Everest," the announcement read. He is widely known as "Everest Man."
The "Everest Man's" Perspective
He climbed Everest for the first time in 1994 working for a commercial expedition. He never let up after that. Kami would climb Everest annually. Thus, one record after another gets penned besides his name. But Kami doesn't care about all this. When he arrived at Everest for the 30th time last year, he was queried on the record. But his straightforward reply was, "I climb Everest for work. Not to set any records."
