ICC making a few amendments to the rules of cricket from next month

The rules of Test cricket will be changed from June. The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will start on June 17. The new rules will come into effect from that match. The white ball rules will change from July.

Player Nomination Rules for WTC 2025-27

The new rules will come into effect from the next World Test Championship. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will compete against each other in the first match of the 2025-27 World Test Championship.

New substitute player guidelines

Before the start of the game, teams will have to nominate five cricketers in writing to the match referee. Out of the five, one batsman, one wicket-keeper, one fast bowler, one spinner and one all-rounder must be mentioned. Substitute cricketers will be dropped from the list.

New two-ball rule in One-Day International

The ICC is also making significant changes to one-day cricket. Until now, two balls were played in each innings of a one-day game. Two balls were used from both ends of the pitch. Each ball was played for 25 overs. From here, two balls will be used as before until the 34th over. One ball will be used from the 35th over. After 17 overs are played, the ball that is in fairly good condition will be used for the last 16 overs. If the overs are 25 or less due to rain or any other reason, the entire innings will be played with one ball

In addition

The ICC has announced some changes to the rules for taking catches on the boundary line and taking DRS. It has not yet been announced what changes will be made.
