Donald Trump again referred to India and Pakistan. The message was delivered through the farewell press conference of one of Trump's advisers and American businessman Elon Musk. Musk, two days ago, stated that he was quitting the White House. His term is over.

Trump's Regarding India-Pakistan Tensions

On Thursday, Trump had informed that Musk's last day at the White House would be on Friday (US time). Trump declared that he would give a press conference with Musk from the Oval Office. During a speech there, the issue of the latest tensions between India and Pakistan arose. Trump again asserted that his statement had ended the confrontation between the two nations.

Background of the India-Pakistan Conflict

On April 22, 26 individuals were martyred in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgaon. India initiated several measures in that attack, blaming Pakistan. The retaliatory operation was called 'Operation Sindoor'. Pakistan was attacked by the Indian army and several terrorist camps were destroyed. Pakistan also retaliated. On May 10, a ceasefire was agreed upon by India and Pakistan. It was Trump who first announced the news of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

US Mediation vs. Bilateral Discussions

The Indian government did not confirm American mediation. They stated that bilaterial discussions between the DGMOs of the two nations' armies were held on the 'hotline'. It was there that both sides reached an understanding for a ceasefire. But Trump had insisted numerous times ever since that day that the ceasefire happened due to his words. He even made the same assertions at Musk's valedictory press conference.

Trump's Self-Congratulatory Remarks

Once again, Trump thanked the governments of India and Pakistan for preventing the war. The Indian and Pakistani leaders are 'great' so they agreed to his offer. Trump, with Musk, complimented the American military. "We're ending other nations' wars. Because we can fight more effectively than anybody else. We have the greatest military in the world. We have the finest leaders in the world in our country," he said.
