Another individual detained in Rajasthan on the charges of espionage!
One Sahdev Singh Gill was detained from Kutch in Gujarat on Saturday on the charges of spying for Pakistan. Within hours, one more man, Qasim, was detained from one of the border states on the same charges.
Suspected Pakistan Links
The crime branch of the state and detectives apprehended Qasim from Dig in Rajasthan. Sources say Qasim had called Pakistan many times over the telephone during 'Operation Sindoor'. Police informed that they are attempting to procure information by checking Qasim's telephone to see with whom he was in communication and with whom he spoke at that time.
Pathan Khan's Espionage
Police sources suspect that he not only spoke over the phone, but he also went to Pakistan a number of times. Qasim's telephone has been sent for forensic analysis. Detectives are probing if Qasim has sneaked out any information. A few days back, Pathan Khan was caught from Jaisalmer on suspicion of being a spy for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. As per police sources, Pathan had gone to Pakistan in 2013. On that occasion, he had interacted with ISI officials. Thereafter, he was in contact with them and purportedly smuggled defence-related information in return for a hefty amount of money.
Nationwide Crackdown on Espionage
So far, 15 individuals have been arrested from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi on the charge of espionage. The latest addition to this list is Qasim from Rajasthan. On Saturday, the Counter Terrorism Department also arrested one Sahadev of Kutch from Gujarat. He is a health worker. He is accused of having contacts with the ISI. It is also accused that Sahadev handed over secret information of the Navy to a Pakistani spy.
