RCB Celebration Turns Tragic: KSCA Officials Resign After Stampede Kills 11

Two Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA) officials have quit. KSCA secretary A Shankar and treasurer E Jayaram have stepped down following the stampede that claimed 11 lives as Royal Challengers Bangalore celebrated their IPL win.

Tragedy Strikes During Celebrations

RCB had emerged victorious in the IPL on June 3. The team celebrated on the following day. On that day, 11 people were crushed to death outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Four individuals have already been arrested following the event. Among them is an RCB official. Two officials of the Karnataka Cricket Association have resigned under such circumstances.

KSCA Officials Resign Amid Controversy

News agency PTI quoted that the Karnataka Cricket Association and Karnataka government assisted RCB in organizing the festival. The two officials resigned after that. Though they said they had no involvement in organizing the festival.

Officials Deny Responsibility

The police have already lodged a case against the RCB, Karnataka Cricket Association president Raghuram Bhatt and the organising committee. After that, the KSCA has stated that they had no role in crowd management.
