New Traffic Rules: Thousands of people die daily in road accidents in India. Various traffic rules have been made to reduce these accidents, but most people do not follow these traffic rules while driving on the road. You must have often seen people driving with their children, and even in such situations, they do not follow traffic rules and act carelessly.

Keeping this in mind, the government has now implemented a new traffic rule under which, if you are driving with your children and you break any traffic rule, you will have to pay double the fine.

Who Will Come Under This Rule?

The rule implemented by the government will apply to all types of private vehicles, rented vehicles, school vehicles, etc. In case of rule violation, the driver as well as the vehicle owner will be held equally responsible.

How Much Will the Fine Be?

  • Currently, if more than two people are caught traveling on a two-wheeler, a fine of ₹1,000 will be imposed.
  • Driving without a seat belt will result in a fine of ₹1,000.
  • Riding a bike without a helmet will incur a fine of ₹1,000.
  • Breaking a signal will attract a fine of ₹5,000.
  • If caught driving without a driving license, a fine of ₹5,000 will be imposed.

Government to Introduce Merit-Demerit Rule

The government will soon implement a point system. After this, all good drivers will be awarded merit points, while drivers who break traffic rules will be given demerit points on their licenses. If the demerit points exceed a certain limit, that person’s driving license may be temporarily or permanently canceled. The government wants this merit-demerit rule to be linked with insurance policies so that good drivers face no issues in claiming insurance, while drivers with demerit points may face problems in claiming insurance.
