Kamal Haasan Sparks Row Over Language

Kamal Haasan has never been a mute South actor. Though in his introduction the term 'South actor' is used, the 70-year-old actor has performed in movies of different languages of the nation in his almost 65-year-long acting career. Kamal's name in Bollywood is no less.

Kamal Haasan Sparks Controversy Over Language Remarks

In recent times, Kamal has been caught in controversy by terming Kannada as the child of Tamil. Legal action has been initiated against him. The actor remains firm in his statement. Such a divide between the two Dravidian languages has never existed before. Nevertheless, this time Kamal has opened his mouth again on the issue of language. While promoting his latest film 'Thug Life', he spoke against Hindi aggression.

In an interview to a news agency, Kamal stated, "I am an actor in the movie 'Ek Duje Ke Liye'. We can learn other languages without any aggression. There is no need to impose it." Kamal brought up the topic of the National Education Policy. He believes that the education system should be such that the children can be taught in the easiest manner. No hindrance must be there in that direction.

‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’ Shaped Kamal’s Bollywood Journey

Worth noting is that Kamal acted the role of a Tamil young man in the movie 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' of 1981. The hero of the said movie develops love with a Hindi-speaking neighbor. That movie provided Kamal with his grounding in Bollywood. Taking an inspiration from that source, the actor has voiced resistance to the core Hindi aggression.

The DMK ruling government in Kamal's Tamil Nadu state is against the National Education Policy. They are not ready to accept the responsibility of imparting three languages to children. Apparently, the BJP NDA government is attempting to enforce Hindi everywhere in India. Kamal himself shares the same sentiment.
