Government Adopts New Method to Stop Cyber Crime

The government has decided to close all inactive Jan Dhan bank accounts. The main reason behind this is to stop cyber crime. Cyber criminals use these bank accounts to deceive people in various ways. Therefore, the decision has been made to close all these bank accounts. If you want to reactivate these bank accounts, you will have to complete the KYC process again.

If you live in rural areas and have not made any transactions in your Jan Dhan account for more than 24 months, your bank account will definitely be closed. The government is going to close such inactive bank accounts, and for this, it has issued all necessary instructions to the banks.

Misuse of Jan Dhan Accounts

Cyber criminals use these Jan Dhan accounts for various types of activities. An official employee of Bank of India, while providing information, said that these empty Jan Dhan accounts are being used for cyber fraud, and most banks are well aware of this. Now, the Reserve Bank of India has launched a mole hunter, after which all such bank accounts that are being used in cyber crime will start being closed.

According to a report from the Reserve Bank of India, in the year 2025, 13,516 cases of fraud in digital payments have come to light, most of which are related to banking. Through these cases, a total of ₹520 crore worth of cyber crime has been reported.
