Garima Saikia Breaks Her Silence: What Really Caused Zubeen Garg’s Death

Everyone assumed Zubeen Garg’s sudden death stemmed from a scuba diving mishap. He had flown to Singapore to perform at the Northeast India Festival and was reported to have died after diving without a life jacket. But his wife, Garima Saikia, now says the reality is very different.

The Seizure Theory That Changes Everything

According to Garima, Zubeen and a group of friends,  including drummers Shekhar and Sidhartha, set sail on a yacht. All of them were wearing life jackets. After returning to the yacht from a swim, Zubeen dove into the water again. That’s when Garima says he had a seizure attack. She claims that he had suffered similar episodes in the past and survived them but this time, it proved fatal.

He was rushed to Singapore General Hospital and put in the ICU for two hours, she added.

Contradictions at Every Turn

Garima’s version of events clashes sharply with what’s been circulating. Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, cited video footage that shows Zubeen jumping back into the sea without a life jacket. From his point of view, that was the ultimate cause of death.

The organisers claim Zubeen passed away at around 2:30 pm on September 19 at the hospital. They were in Singapore for a meeting with industrialists to boost investments in Northeast India. The concert was supposed to happen the next day.

What This Really Means

There’s now a tug-of-war between two narratives: one pointing to a fatal seizure, the other blaming drowning after ignoring life-jacket safety. Garima’s revelations demand deeper investigation involving medical records, eyewitness accounts, and forensic evidence must be examined before we settle on one version.

One thing’s certain: fans don’t just need closure. Everyone deserves the truth.
