Following Sophia, SP MP mentions 'Akashkanya' caste while condemning Byomika, BJP minister!

BJP minister Vijay Shah of Madhya Pradesh government had kicked up a row by referring to Indian Army Colonel Sophia as the 'sister of terrorists'. The tempest of controversy over the 'hate speech' of the BJP minister shows no signs of abating. Meanwhile, in an attempt to attack the BJP minister, Uttar Pradesh's Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramgopal Yadav uttered a contentious remark regarding Indian Air Force Wing Commander Byomika Singh. He has been accused of making 'racist' statements. It is noteworthy that Byomika's name is derived from the term 'daughter of the sky'.

The two girls of the two soldiers, Sophia and Byomika, were a common sight after 'Operation Sindoor' at the joint press conferences of the Army and the Ministry of External Affairs. They not only provided a telltale account of the extent of the damage inflicted upon Pakistan by India, but also rejected all the lies of Islamabad. Recently, Ramgopal attacked the BJP at a gathering and stated, "One of their ministers has used strong words to Colonel Qureshi. But that minister does not know who Byomika Singh is and who Air Marshal AK Bharti is. If he had known, he would have attacked them too."

Ramgopal did not stop at this. He asserted that Byomika is a member of the Jatav community of Haryana. And Bharati is a Yadav from Purnia region of Bihar. In this regard, the SP MP said, "All three of them (Sophia, Byomika and Bharati) are PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority). One person was harassed because he was a Muslim. Another person was let off because it was believed that he was a Rajput. And the third person didn't know."

As the row started, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath penned, "Army uniforms do not see through the eyes of racism. All Indian Army soldiers do their national duty. They are not representatives of any caste or religion." Adityanath also questioned Ramgopal's 'narrow mentality'. Following that, Ramgopal, who has been a close friend of SP chief Akhilesh Singh Yadav, also issued a clarification. He asserted that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is performing politics over the matter without hearing out the whole statement.
