Brazilian World Cup-winning footballer hospitalized following burn from fire

Lucio, a former Brazilian footballer, has been hospitalized. He sustained burns due to an accident in his home. He has developed burns on several parts of his body. His health is stable at the moment. Doctors are monitoring him closely.

A hospital statement announced that Lucio is stable now. He is awake now. He is receiving all the treatment he requires. Special care is being given to the burned parts of his body.

Marilia Forgiarini, the wife of Lucio, said in a Brazilian newspaper that she had an accident at his Brasilia home. A bioethanol-powered chimney exploded and injured Lucio. The injuries were so severe that he was put in hospital right away. He was out cold for a few seconds.

Lucio retired from football in 2019. Still, he will be remembered for his contribution to Brazil's victory in the World Cup in 2002. He was also a Champion League winner with Inter Milan in 2010. During his club career, Lucio played for Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Inter and Juventus in Europe, and Sao Paulo and Palmeiras in Brazil.

At Inter, he was twice crowned Serie A champion, twice Coppa Italia champion, Champions League winner, Supercoppa Italiana winner and Club World Cup winner. With Bayern, he won three Bundesliga championships. With Brazil, he won the World Cup and the Confederations Cup. For all the football he has played in a 22-year career, Lucio has accumulated 17 trophies.

Lucio also featured in the ISL upon arriving in India. He appeared in 16 games for Goa during the 2015-16 season.
