Ahan Shetty on His First Diwali as a Mamu, “It Feels Different This Year”
Ahan Shetty opens up about celebrating his first Diwali as an uncle to baby Evaarah. From pampering plans to family bonds, here’s how the festival feels more meaningful for the actor this year.

This year, Ahan Shetty isn’t just lighting diyas, he’s soaking in the joy of becoming an uncle. His sister Athiya Shetty and brother-in-law KL Rahul recently welcomed their baby girl, Evaarah, and it changed everything about how the festival feels for him.
“Diwali has always been about family, but this time, there’s a whole new kind of happiness,” Ahan shared in a recent conversation. He admitted that the Shetty home feels warmer and livelier than ever, and that the little one’s arrival has added “a different kind of light” to the celebrations.

In previous years, he often spent the festival away from home due to work. But this time, he’s staying put, eager to spend every moment with his niece and family.
On Being the ‘Mamu Who Pampers’
Ask him what kind of mamu he plans to be, and Ahan laughs before answering. “The kind who pampers her endlessly, for sure,” he said, adding that he’s already been warned by the family not to spoil her too much.
There’s affection in every word. He’s aware that being an uncle isn’t just about gifting toys or sneaking sweets. “It’s also about being around,” he said. “Kids remember that more than anything else.”
That mix of warmth and groundedness makes his answer feel honest. It’s clear that the role has stirred something deeper in him.

Watching Athiya Step Into Motherhood
For Ahan, seeing Athiya as a mother has been “surreal.” He recalls how she was always the protective sister growing up, now, watching her cradle her daughter feels like “life coming full circle.”
He jokes that the attention in the house has officially shifted from him to baby Evaarah, but you can tell he doesn’t mind. “She’s stolen everyone’s heart,” he said, smiling.
Looking Ahead
Professionally, Ahan is gearing up for his next big project, Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh. But right now, his focus is on family.
As the diyas flicker and the house fills with laughter, this Diwali isn’t just a festival for Ahan, it’s a milestone. One that marks new beginnings, both on-screen and at home.
