War 2 isn’t even out yet, but it’s already making noise at the box office. The action thriller, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR has kicked off advance bookings with a bang. On the very first day, over 1.25 lakh tickets were sold, adding up to around ₹8.5 crore in revenue. When you include seats blocked in multiplex chains, that figure shoots higher, pushing the film close to the ₹20 crore pre-release mark.

A Massive Rollout Across India

Yash Raj Films isn’t holding back. War 2 will hit an unprecedented 5,000 screens across the country, making it one of the widest Hindi releases ever. Premium formats like IMAX and 4DX are also in play, and early sales show strong demand in these high-end screens. The hype isn’t just online at a pre-release event in Hyderabad, thousands of fans turned up, requiring drones, barricades, and over a thousand police officers to control the crowd.

Why Everyone’s Talking About It

The film has a lot going for it. First, there’s the rare pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, two powerhouse performers with fanbases that don’t usually overlap. For Jr. NTR, this marks his grand entry into Bollywood after his global breakout with RRR. Second, it’s part of the YRF Spy Universe, the same world that gave us War (2019), Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Add in the Independence Day holiday weekend, and you have a recipe for huge first-week numbers.

What We Can Expect on Screen

Director Ayan Mukerji is taking the reins this time, promising globe-spanning action sequences shot in Italy, Abu Dhabi, and Kashmir. The story is expected to blend espionage, high-stakes drama, and large-scale stunts, keeping in line with the franchise’s adrenaline-heavy reputation but with Mukerji’s cinematic flair.

The Big Box Office Face-Off

While War 2 has a solid start, it’s also going head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which is breaking advance booking records in southern markets. Both films are eyeing blockbuster openings, setting up one of the biggest holiday box office battles in recent memory.

If early numbers are any indication, War 2 could be YRF’s next big win provided the on-screen fireworks match the pre-release buzz.
