The Indian board declared the name of the new captain of the England series

India were on the lookout for a new captain when Rohit Sharma retired from Tests. The board declared the name of the captain of the tour of England on Saturday. Shubman Gill is the new India Test captain. The board also declared an 18-member squad for the tour of England.

India is playing a Test series for the first time since the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Lokesh Rahul are in the team as openers. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudarshan have also been included in the team. As a result, Rahul can be played in the middle order if needed. Shubman Gill is available to play at number three.

Karun Nair has merited a spot in the side after performing well in domestic cricket. Rishabh Pant is present in the team as a wicket-keeper. He is also the team's vice-captain. Dhruv Jurel is present in the team as the second wicket-keeper. Players such as Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja are present to deal with the middle order.

Jasprit Bumrah will take charge of the pace attack. He will be joined by Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. Kuldeep Yadav will take charge of the spin department.

Considering the Indian team, one can easily understand that Ajit Agarkar and his staff have constructed the team with the future in mind. India was unable to make it to the final of the previous World Test Championship.

India will host the first Test against England on June 20. The match will be held in Leeds. The second Test will be held in Manchester from July 2. The third Test will be held at Lord's from July 10. The fourth Test will begin in Manchester from July 23. The fifth and last Test will be held at The Oval in London from July 31.

Prior to that, India will contest two private Tests against the England Lions, and then have an inter-team game.
