Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf POSTPONES theatrical release in wake of Operation Sindoor aftermath tensions

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi were all set for the theatrical release of their time loop comedy, Bhool Chuk Maaf. The film was all set to release in theatres across India, but the release of the film has been withdrawn for good. Bhool Chuk Maaf won't be releasing in theatres tomorrow — in fact, it won't be completing a theatrical release at all.

Maddock Films, the production company supporting Bhool Chuk Maaf, took to their official social media accounts to make an announcement that due to increasing national tensions and overall security issues, the film will no longer have a theatrical release. Instead, a direct-to-OTT launch has been arranged for May 16.

The news stated, "Given recent occurrences and the escalated security drills all over the country, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have taken the decision of taking our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, straight into your homes on May 16 — exclusively on Prime Video, globally. Even as we had been waiting in anticipation to share this celebration of the film with you at cinema halls, nation first comes above all. JAI HIND!".

Maddock Films' eleventh-hour decision to shut down Bhool Chuk Maaf's theatrical release, a day before it was to be held, comes in the high-strung wake of May 7's Operation Sindoor, the pinpoint missile attacks launched by India on Pakistan's terror camps in retaliation for the horrific Pahalgam attack on April 22. This adds to the fact that mock drills were conducted across the country yesterday, to have civilians ready in case of unexpected hostility.

Interestingly, in an HT City Stars In The City session yesterday, Rajkummar and Wamiqa had both emphasized the point of how Bhool Chuk Maaf, is a family entertainer through and through, and should only be seen in theatres to share in a laughter marathon.

In isolation, the session had indeed commenced with both actors showing support for Operation Sindoor.
