Until now, the Indian government had not made any rules regarding such obscene content on Instagram, but that will no longer be the case.

Punishment for Adult Content Posting

For everyone’s information, let us tell you that according to Section 67 of the IT Act 2000, it is stated that if you post any kind of obscene content online, it is considered a crime. If any person is caught posting obscene content, they can face up to 3 years of imprisonment or a fine. If this mistake is repeated, the punishment can extend to 5 years.

Along with this, action is also taken under Sections 354 and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 for such cases. If any person sells or distributes obscene content online or offline, there is a provision for up to 2 years of punishment and a fine.

Under Section 356, if any person is found engaging in obscene acts on a public or digital platform or posting obscene material, action can be taken against them.

Along with this, Instagram itself can block or delete profiles and accounts that post obscene content, as this harms the dignity of any country.
