Prashant Tamang, singer and actor, who recently won hearts with his acting in the critically-acclaimed series Paatal Lok, has died at the age of 43. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry.
January 11 was a sad day for the world of music and entertainment as famous singer and actor Prashant Tamang was declared dead at the age of 43. If reports are to be believed, he died of a sudden cardiac arrest. The late star, who had won the third season of Indian Idol, slept comfortably, but did not wake up in the morning. Prashant was rushed to the hospital by his family but declared dead upon arrival.
Reactions and Speculations on Tamang’s Sudden Demise
The news about Prashant Tamang’s demise left many in shock. His friend, Rajesh Ghatani, was the first to inform everyone about the singer’s death publicly.
The fact that he died at a young age in New Delhi also led to several speculations regarding the circumstances. However, Tamang’s wife, Martha Aley, has now stepped forward to put an end to all rumours and suspicions.
Aley confirmed that her husband’s death was natural and that it happened when he was asleep.
As quoted by the ANI, she said, “Thank you to everyone. I’ve been receiving calls from all over the world. People that I know, people that I don’t know, I’ve been getting flowers. People are standing outside my house, people have come to the hospital to see him for the last time.”
Who was Prashant Tamang?
Prashant Tamang was born into a Nepali-speaking Gorkha family on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling. His father died while in service with the West Bengal Police. Later, Tamang left school and took up his father’s post.
A Career Filled with Struggle, Love, Emotions, and Culture
Prashant Tamang was encouraged by his fans to participate in the Indian Idol in 2007. As mentioned earlier, he went on to win the competition.
He released his first album Dhanyavaad in 2010 and performed regularly at concerts in India and overseas.
Tamang also tried his hands at acting in the Nepali hit Gorkha Paltan in the same year. Later, he acted in several other movies like Kina Maya Ma, Nishani, Angalo Yo Maya Ko, Pardesi and Kina Mayama.
He won the hearts of the audience again recently in the second season of Paatal Lok. Tamang played the role of an assassin, Daniel Lecho, in the critically-acclaimed series.
He will be seen posthumously in the upcoming Salman Khan-starrer Battle of Galwan, which will release on April 17.
