Param Sundari Review: Just Another Rom-Com That Plays It Safe
Param Sundari review: Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor shine in a glossy rom-com set in Kerala. Fun and vibrant in theatres, but light on depth.
Param Sundari arrives as a splash of colour in theatres, a rom-com that’s easy on the eyes and heavy on charm. Shot against Kerala’s lush backwaters, the film leans into postcard beauty and sparkling music to hold your attention. On a big screen, it feels indulgent in the right ways. On OTT, it might lose some of that charm.
Chemistry Check: Sidharth & Janhvi
The film rests firmly on its leads, and here’s the good news, they deliver partially. Sidharth Malhotra brings effortless charm, balancing suave appeal with a likability that keeps you invested. Janhvi Kapoor, styled in traditional Kerala looks, has rarely looked more luminous on screen. She carries her character with confidence, though her Malayalam accent sounds fake and forced to a lot of the viewers. Together, they create a believable romance, even if the script doesn’t give them much to chew on.
The supporting cast includes Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, and Renji Panicker, who add splashes of humour and heart but never steal the spotlight. And that works, because this film is unapologetically about its leads.
Hits and Misses
The music is the star here. Sachin–Jigar’s Pardesiya has already climbed playlists, and the background score lifts even the predictable stretches. Cinematography is another strength because Kerala has rarely looked this cinematic in a Bollywood romance.
But for all its gloss, Param Sundari doesn’t dig deep. The story plays it safe, with emotional beats that skim the surface instead of pulling you in. A few comic sequences feel contrived, bordering on cringeworthy. It’s a rom-com that entertains while it lasts, but it won’t linger once the credits roll.
Verdict: Worth the Ticket?
Yes, only if you’re looking for a light, cheerful escape with good music, attractive leads, and breathtaking backdrops. No, if you’re hoping for a love story that stays with you or offers something new.
