Lavanya Das Manikpuri is a 16-year-old girl from Jagdalpur, Bastar (Chhattisgarh), who recently went viral after actress Priyanka Chopra shared her dance reel on Instagram. Lavanya didn’t expect that her simple home-recorded video would blow up like this.

Student With No Formal Training

She is currently studying in Class 12 at Success Convent School. Lavanya has never attended any dance academy, but her moves are confident and graceful. Her mother is a trained Kathak dancer, and Lavanya says she grew up watching her mom perform. Her maternal grandfather was also a well-known artist in Bastar and had deep knowledge of Halbi, a dialect spoken by the Gond community.

Big Dreams After School

In one interview, Lavanya shared that she wants to pursue a course in acting or dancing after completing her school education.

A Simple Reel That Changed Everything

The video that went viral was on the classic Bollywood song “Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja”. She casually recorded it at home and posted it online. On June 12, Priyanka Chopra shared the reel on her Instagram story — and within days, Lavanya’s Instagram followers crossed 1 million.

Lavanya had started her YouTube channel in 2017, where she uploads dance videos, lifestyle vlogs, and fun content. As of 2025, she has more than 390,000 subscribers.
