Celina Jaitly has stepped into a different kind of spotlight, and this one is far more painful than any film set. The actor has taken legal action against her husband, Peter Haag, accusing him of sustained emotional, physical, verbal, and sexual abuse. Her petition lays out a long, distressing history that she says forced her to leave Austria and return to India.

A Marriage That Unravelled Behind Closed Doors

According to Celina, the man she once trusted slowly turned into someone she didn’t recognise. She describes Haag as controlling and prone to angry outbursts, claiming he discouraged her from working after marriage and used isolation as a form of control. She alleges that what began as emotional strain escalated into physical and sexual violence over the years, leaving her with no safe space, not even at home.

Her case isn’t just about recounting trauma. She’s seeking ₹50 crore in compensation and monthly maintenance for the children, along with the right to meet them. The kids currently live with Haag in Austria, a fact that adds another layer of heartbreak to an already heavy story.

A Legal Fight That Spans Continents

What complicates matters further is that Haag has already filed for divorce in Austria. Celina says that during those proceedings, she struggled with the language, felt unrepresented, and was overwhelmed by an unfamiliar system. Back in Mumbai, her case is now before a magistrate, who has issued a notice to Haag. The next hearing is expected in December.

A Woman Standing Her Ground

Celina recently spoke about feeling like she’s fighting the storm of her life while separated from her children, distanced from family, and left to rebuild her support system from scratch. Still, she holds on to the resilience she says comes from being a soldier’s daughter. That strength is what’s guiding her now as she pushes back, demands answers, and refuses to disappear quietly.

Her story is raw, painful, and deeply personal but it’s also a reminder of what bravery looks like when the world isn’t watching.
