On International Yoga Day, the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli was turned into a place of soul and strength. Driving the initiative was changemaker Amruta Devendra Fadnavis and her NGO Divyaj Foundation, who united more than 1,000 underprivileged women—BMC sweepers, hospital workers, transgenders, vocational trainees, and so on—for a healing celebration that went far beyond the yoga mat.

Star Power Joins the Movement

Amruta Fadnavis enlisted the help of Bollywood stars Arjun Kapoor and Nushrratt Bharuccha to be a part of the campaign, lending their support, solidarity, and energy to the event. "Yoga brings us closer not only to our breathing, but to one another. I was honored to be part of an initiative that celebrated the strength of women who silently bear our world," Arjun Kapoor stated.

Nushrratt Bharuccha, further added, "Empowerment starts with empathy. It was heartening to see so many women come together in dignity and strength."

Soulful Beginnings with Ganesh Vandana

The festival began with a soul-stirring Ganesh Vandana performed by the kids of Mitti Ke Sitare, whose musical skills had been groomed by the Divyaj Foundation. The inaugural act was followed by an invigorating yoga session designed by Holistic Health Guru Dr. Mickey Mehta. "Yoga wasn't a workout—it was a work-in," he stated. "And when performed with seva, it is magic."

Empowerment Beyond the Mat

The day was more than asanas—it was an inspiration of awareness. Modules on patriotism, meditation, health and hygiene, emotional well-being, and financial literacy armed the participants with life tools, much beyond the mat.

A Tribute to Strength and Sacrifice

"Behind the shadow of sorrow, we came together not in hopelessness but in determination—our mats turned into prayer grounds, our hands, bridges of strength," Amruta Fadnavis said, honoring the Pahalgam martyrs. Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, Shri Bhushan Gagrani, IAS, referred to the event as "a beautiful reminder that wellness is a right, not a luxury." With wellness kits given out, and a spirit of community infused into each breath and movement, this Yoga Day became more than an event—it became a memory, a message, and a movement bound by heart, harmony, and humanity.
