Amarnath Yatra: Many Journeys Cancelled Due to Rapid Melting of Shivling!

Amarnath Yatra: Everyone eagerly awaits the Amarnath Yatra every year. This time, the Amarnath Yatra began on July 3, 2025. So far, more than 1.5 lakh pilgrims have visited the cave temple in the Pahalgam tehsil of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. Around 4 lakh people had registered for the Yatra this time. However, due to excessive heat in June, the ice of the Shivling is melting very rapidly, which is why a decrease in the number of pilgrims is being observed this year.

Due to the reduction in the number of pilgrims, it will affect the hotels and tourist businesses operating here. Because of the melting ice, all the people associated with these businesses are looking very worried.

No-Fly Zone in Amarnath Yatra

Let us inform you all that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the government has declared all routes of the Amarnath Yatra as no-fly zones. All types of helicopter services have also been stopped here. Due to this, fewer people have registered compared to last year. Last year, around 10 lakh people had the darshan of the Shivling, for which a large number of the Indian Army was deployed. This time too, security has been provided with anti-drone defense systems at various places for the safety of the pilgrims.

Reduced Journeys Due to Closed Air Routes

According to information from local tour operators, approximately 60% of bookings were done via air routes, which allowed people to have darshan quickly. But this time, due to the no-fly zone, 60% of the pilgrims have already decreased. This has badly affected the business. Recently, more than 150 bookings for helicopters have been canceled. Even those who provide travel services using ponies have been prohibited from registering, which has also led to a decrease in the number of pilgrims.
