The premiere of Sai – The Musical at Mumbai’s NCPA became an unforgettable evening of spirituality, artistry, and emotion. Blending devotion with drama, the production left audiences deeply moved — including Helen, Salma Khan, Alvira, and Atul Agnihotri, who attended the event together.
A Celebration of Faith and Theatre
Under the artistic vision of Ashvin Gidwani and AGP World, the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre transformed into a sacred space for storytelling. The timing couldn’t have been more symbolic — the premiere coincided with Shirdi Sai Baba’s Maha Samadhi anniversary, adding a spiritual resonance to the occasion.
The two-hour Hindi musical, with English subtitles, beautifully intertwined soulful music, meaningful dialogues, and heartfelt performances. With 15 original songs — one sung by the acclaimed Kailash Kher — and an ensemble of 30 performers, the stage came alive with devotion and energy. Each scene seemed to breathe life into Sai Baba’s teachings of compassion, faith, and equality.
A Star-Studded Yet Soulful Gathering
The premiere witnessed the gracious presence of actor Salman Khan’s family — Helen, Salma Khan, Alvira, and Atul Agnihotri — who joined an audience captivated by the spiritual narrative unfolding on stage.
Helen, radiant with nostalgia, shared, “I used to visit Sai Baba’s temple in Nashik years ago, and this show brings back those memories. I didn’t expect something so touching — the performances, the music, the energy… it was divine.”
Atul Agnihotri echoed her sentiments, praising the performers’ passion and the production’s depth: “Sai Baba’s lessons have been illustrated so beautifully. We are all worshippers, and seeing his teachings come alive like this was truly uplifting.”
Behind the Spiritual Spectacle
Directed by Atul Satya Koushik and inspired by the Sai Satcharitra, the musical stars veteran actor Pankaj Berry as Sai Baba, with notable performances by Akshay Datta, Bhumika Mane, Puneet Mishra, and Saberi Bhattacharya. The choreography by Devendra Singh, movement direction by Bhavna Pani, and music by Anik Sharma added layers of grace and emotion.
An international technical team led by Michael Inglis ensured the visuals matched the spiritual intensity, blending light, sound, and stagecraft seamlessly.

After its soul-stirring Mumbai debut, Sai – The Musical is set to travel to Delhi later this year, continuing its journey of spreading Sai Baba’s timeless message of love, humility, and faith.
