Yes Bank Share Price: Is Yes Bank Getting a New Buyer? Yes Bank Creates a Stir in the Share Market

Yes Bank Share Price: In the public sector, Yes Bank is a very big name in India, but for quite some time, its share price has been quite low. At one time, its share price had reached above ₹380, but today it is available to you at less than ₹20. In this crisis period, Japan’s financial company Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is seen making efforts to acquire Yes Bank. As soon as this news leaked into the market on May 6, 2025, Yes Bank’s share price surged rapidly, and an increase of about 9% was observed.

After this news came to light, Yes Bank’s price in the share market had reached ₹19.44. However, at the time of market closing, Yes Bank’s price closed at ₹17.94. Let us tell you that just some time ago, Yes Bank had touched a price of around ₹16, which was its lowest price in the last one year.

How Will SMBC Acquire Yes Bank’s Holding

In the public sector unit, SBI Bank holds a 23.97% stake, and being the largest stakeholder in Yes Bank, SBI Bank may sell about 20% of its stake to SMBC. SMBC is trying to acquire about 51% stake in Yes Bank. Other banks in India also hold stakes in Yes Bank, and they may also sell their stakes. LIC company also holds a 3.98% stake in Yes Bank.

What Is the Problem in This Deal

According to the information received, under Indian law, promoters in any private sector bank can hold a maximum of 26% stake, but SMBC company wants a 51% stake. This is why last year too, this deal got stuck midway. But according to the information provided by SMBC, this deal will happen very easily, and by using voting rights and controlling majority, it will get a 51% stake.

If this deal happens, Yes Bank’s price will rise very rapidly. In such a case, investors who invest in it at this time can become very rich quickly. We are not giving you investment advice here.
