Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made it clear that he will serve the full five-year term. This put an end to rumors that the Congress-led government would change leaders in the middle of the term. Before a meeting of the cabinet, he told reporters, "Yes, I will continue as CM." "Why do you have doubts?" he asked, adding, "Are those critics the top leaders of the Congress?"

The Senate Power-Sharing Deal in Question

During the campaign for the 2023 Assembly, there was talk within the Congress that Siddaramaiah would lead the government for two and a half years, and then Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar would take over. But the party never officially announced such an agreement, which caused confusion and statements from different groups within the party.

Godavari K. Backs Siddaramaiah, but the pressure is building

Deputy CM Shivakumar said again that he supported Siddaramaiah and that he would do what the high command told him to do. "What do I have to do?" Shivakumar told the press, "I have to stand by him." However, he also told the MLAs not to speak before they were asked, pointing out that Iqbal Hussain and others had been making public pleas.

Rally of MLAs Makes People Uncomfortable Behind Shivakumar

Iqbal Hussain and some Congress MLAs have publicly backed Shivakumar, saying that more than 100 of the party's 138 lawmakers back him. Hussain told them that Congress might have a hard time in the next election if the top leaders don't listen to them.

The Senate Central Leadership Is Silent

The leaders of the Congress party, such as party president Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC general secretary Randeep Surjewala, have not said anything publicly about a change in leadership. Insiders within the party assert that the top leaders are closely monitoring the situation and striving to ensure the safety of the government.

Yatindra Siddaramaiah Is Not Concerned About Threats

The people were reassured by MLC Yathindra, CM Siddaramaiah's son. He said that his father's situation is "not threatened" and that Siddaramaiah will finish his full five-year term without any breaks.

All Eyes on the High Command of Congress

Even though Siddaramaiah is still sure of himself and Shivakumar seems willing to work with him, unsolved problems within the organization could keep building up. Now, the Congress high office in Delhi has the final say on any changes to the leadership.
