Rule Change: The month of July is about to start soon, and with it, you will see changes in various railway rules. If you also travel regularly by railway, it is important to know about these rules. These rules will affect all railway passengers. If you book tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website, several rules regarding this are being changed.

First Rule

According to the first rule, there may be an increase in railway fares. From 1 July 2025, you may notice an increase in railway fares. Although this fare increase will be very minimal, if you travel long distances, you will notice a difference in the fare. This fare increase rule will apply to both non-AC mail and express trains. Here, the fare will be increased at the rate of one paisa per kilometer. If you travel in AC class, you will see an increase of two paise per kilometer in the fare.

Second Rule

If you book tatkal tickets through the railway, an important rule related to this is going to be updated. From 1 July 2025, only those who have verified everything with their Aadhaar card on the IRCTC website will be able to book tatkal tickets. Agents can no longer book tickets until 30 minutes after the booking window opens.

Third Rule

Another rule related to the railway is going to be implemented in the month of July, which pertains to the tatkal booking process. According to this rule, if any Aadhaar-verified user books tatkal tickets online through the IRCTC website, it will be mandatory for them to do OTP authentication. Without OTP, tatkal ticket booking will not be possible. Due to this process, the various irregularities that occur in tatkal ticket booking will be curbed.
