Retro film took an opening of 19.25 crore rupees in All India on the first day, May 1, 2025. The film earned 17.25 crore rupees combining Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions, along with 1.95 crore rupees from Telugu. Suriya’s previous film Kanguva had earned 22 crore rupees on the opening day.
Retro’s Story Line
The story line of this film is set between the 1960s and 1990s, which shows the story of an orphan child adopted by a gangster family. The name of this orphan child is Kannan, played by Suriya. How Suriya tries to leave his violent behavior to win his lover Rukmini (Pooja Hegde) and how the crime world tries to pull him back is the struggle shown in this film. The struggle of Kannan towards his love is what is seen in it.
