Every year during the monsoon season, cloud burst incidents are often reported. Such events frequently occur in hilly areas, causing significant loss of life and property. The affected families receive financial assistance from the government, and compensation is also provided in case of death.

Who Provides Compensation for Cloud Burst?

If a cloud burst incident occurs, let us tell you that both the central government and state government jointly provide compensation for any property damage or death. This compensation is provided under the National Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of India and the State Disaster Relief Fund of the state government. The government has enacted the National Disaster Management Act 2005 for this purpose.

How Much Compensation is Provided for Cloud Burst?

If a person suffers any loss due to a cloud burst, flood, or any other natural calamity, the government provides financial assistance and compensation. Under the central government’s policy, ₹200,000 is given per death to the deceased’s family members. As for the Uttarakhand government, compensation of up to ₹400,000 can be provided here.

Additionally, the government covers the treatment expenses for injured individuals who require medical care. Compensation is also provided separately for damage to homes, loss of livestock, and crop damage.
