Toll Tax Rules: Can't Do This If You Haven't Paid Toll Tax, New Rules Issued
New 2025 toll tax rules: Unpaid toll tax will block vehicle transfers—clear dues via FASTag before August to avoid issues!
Toll Tax Rules: If you own a four-wheeler and travel on national highways, you have to pay a toll tax. However, many people do not pay their toll tax on time and keep it pending, and they also fail to clear the pending payment on time. Due to this, the government has introduced a new rule. After this, if you haven’t paid your toll tax, you may have to face the consequences.
If you also don’t pay your toll tax on time, it could lead to trouble for you. The Ministry of Road Transport has implemented a new rule under which, if you want to transfer your four-wheeler vehicle, it will be checked whether you have any pending toll tax or not. You can transfer the vehicle to someone else’s name only after paying the toll tax.
Vehicle Won’t Be Transferred Without Paying Toll
The government keeps introducing various rules regarding toll tax from time to time. From the month of August, you will also be able to use an annual FASTag. Meanwhile, the government has introduced a new rule under which, if you haven’t cleared your pending toll tax, you won’t be able to transfer your vehicle to someone else’s name. If you want to sell your vehicle or transfer it to another person, you will first have to clear your pending toll tax.
Whenever you transfer the registration certificate through the transport department, it will be checked beforehand whether there is any pending amount in your FASTag account. If there is any pending amount outstanding, the vehicle’s ownership cannot be changed. Due to this government rule, toll tax evasion will be curbed, and in this way, the government will be able to recover all the old pending toll tax amounts.
